What documentation do I need to provide to book my first shift?

All you need to provide is your valid government ID and bank account information (so we can pay you!). Some roles will require you to have completed a TB test or physical and to validate specific credentials, like your CNA license or lead teacher certification. We'll also ask you to complete a free background check through the Clipboard app.

How does InstantPay work?

Am I considered a W-2 employee or 1099 contractor?

Clipboard workers who work per diem shifts are 1099 independent-contractors. This means you will receive your full earned wage and a 1099 form to report your income come tax time.

Do I need approval to work a shift, or is it mine once I book it?

Once you book your shift, it's yours—no approvals needed.

How far in advance are shifts posted?

Shifts are posted anytime and all the time, from an hour before to a month out. Urgent shifts posted last minute will have higher pay rates than those posted further in advance.

Can I book shifts at the same facility repeatedly if I like it?

Absolutely, if a shift is available, you can book it. Plus, workplaces that like working with you can send you direct invitations to book new shifts before they're shared with everyone.

What happens if I need to cancel a shift I booked?

If you need to cancel, you should do so as soon as possible. Pending how far in advance you cancel, your access to future shifts may be limited.

Will I know the workplace expectations for the shift before I arrive?

Yes, you'll be able to review all the information you need to know about the facility and the role on the workplace's profile in the app before you book.

Do I have to pay anything?

Clipboard is completely free for professionals. The only cost is if you choose InstantPay, which is a small fee per payout.
